Banns called in 1840 ,married in 1863 ??

Am getting totally confused
Benjamin Hall and Mary Ann Goozee
Banns called in 1840 yet they married in 1863 and are together as Husband and Wife in 1861 with children ??
Any ideas ??? thanks

I don't know the London areas but what about these two? The children ages would fit but I haven't seen the 1861 like you have and I don't know when/where they were both born.

Well, I suppose a possible explanation is they got cold feet and didn't marry when the Banns were called!
Cannot see an earlier marriage for them.
