Thread: Edward Marshall

    Edward Marshall

Does anyone know of any sites I can check to see if he was a soldier in 1918 in New Zealand.

Edward Daniel Marshall was born in Tasmania to Edward Marshall and Mary Ann (nee Murphy) in 1896.

His father died in 1898 in Tasmania and his mother returned to New Zealand with her son Edward and sister Emily.

On the New Zealand BMD there is a death for a Edward Daniel Marshall in 1918......and I was just trying to find another way of finding out if he is the one I am looking for without having to get the deathe certificate unless I have too.

    Thanks.....Ruth

It certainly looks like him......Smith was one of the possiblities I had as a remarriage for his mother......any suggestions as to why the death date is 1915.....but on the BMD it is 1918.

sorry ruth I can`t help you there....unless there were 2 Edward Daniel Marshall , in which case you would have to buy a cert to find out which is yours...but realistically the chances of there being TWO Mary Ann as wives is slim....It looks like your E.D.Marshall in 1915 to me....you could always ask for an ANZAC specialist for advice...
try asking on "the wattlers" thread in General Discussion....most are from Australia or New Zealand .....

I had a little play on Papers Past today and couldn't find anything......but I am new to reserching in New Zealand.....I only just figured out tonight that Mary Ann Marshall remarried to Philip David Smith in 1911......I had four possible otions of a remarriages for her.

    Hi Ruth.

    Is this him??

    http://muse.aucklandmuseum.com/datab...0307&Ordinal=2

What BMD has him dying in 1918?? There are a lot of WW1 deaths recorded in Qld years after the person actually died.

    Yes that definately is him......thanks.

On the New Zealand BMD is where his death is recorded at 1918 with no age recorded.....as he actually was born in Tasmania in 1896 I think the discrepancy may have occured with him fibbing about his age to get into the army.

Thanks for you help.....this man was thought to have been a family myth...it is wonderful to actually have him real...if you know what I mean.
