A Challenge for 2010
New members may not have come across these threads in the Birthdays and Anniversaries Forum, or "older" members may have forgotten all about them.
In December 2007, Simon suggested that we see if between us, we could add a birth, baptism or marriage date of our direct ancestors for each day of December - a sort of Advent Calendar. This was so successful, that it was continued right through 2008 (including February 29th!!) to give a complete year. It was continued through 2009, adding dates of death or burial, but less successfully.
Since then, we have many, many new members and the original contributors will have found new information and extended their trees, so we are going to start afresh - if you added to the threads before, it doesn't matter, please add them again. The challenge is to see if we can find at least one entry for every day of 2010.
It should be the birth/baptism, marriage, death/burial dates of direct ancestors only. If you are able to fill in any background or add photographs of the people or places involved that would be great. As not every member has uploaded a GEDCOM to the site, who knows what connections you may find!!
A new thread will be started for each month and they will all be safely archived. We are thinking about how best to record them permanently on the site so that they can easily be added to in future years. A problem here, is that if we were to do this, they may need to be put in a public area of the site, so your opinions on this would be welcome.
In the meantime, please start adding your direct ancestors to Ancestral Anniversaries ~ January 2010.

We are nearly at the end of January and have had several entries for each day - now is the time to search out the entries for February!!
Please remember that we are only collecting entries for your DIRECT ancestors who are deceased.
You may not be aware that each month, we have a thread dedicated to remembering any of our relations. It is entitled "In Memoriam" and can also be found in the Birthdays and Anniversaries Forum.
We are working on putting the January ones into a more permanent public home - it wouldn't be going live for a while if we do go ahead with it as there are some wrinkles to sort out, but if you have any further comments to make about this, then please let us know.

Have you seen the new Ancestral Anniversaries pages?
Please read Post#8 on the thread in General and if you have any feedback, please add it to that thread.

The days for February have all been published now on Ancestral Anniversaries but we have three empty days!!
Please can you look and see if you missed any possible entries for direct ancestors for the 13th, 22nd and the 25th.
If you missed any for January or February, you can add them at any time to the comments boxes underneath and I will add them for you.
P.S. Even though this is not a Leap Year, you can add events for the 29th of February as well ...
