There were a large group of Bruertons in Darlaston who for one census were transcribed as Brewerton.

Hi Penny,
I spent about 2 days searching over 600 news paper articles with the name Brewerton in them.
I was surprised and delighted to see how many people were convicted for cruelty to animals.
Delighted they were convicted, not that they were doing it!!
