I am trying to find if my 3xG/Gfather, who had several shops in Manchester in mid 1800s, left a Will. (Not that he would have left me anything :(!!!) I have looked at the Courts of York, the family came from York, and the Courts of Canterbury but can't find anything. Was there another Court that would have covered Manchester. If so, can I view lists to see if he did make a Will. Oh, he died in hospital of a brain tumor, so he probably didn't die suddenly. Therefore, I would have expected him to do so.

Have you tried this one?
Lancashire Will Search
If he died of a brain tumour then he may not have been "of sound mind" by the time he realised he was ill, though, so may not have been able to make a will - but if not then hopefully you will find an "admon".KiteRunner
