thanks to all that helped me trace my grandfather Albert Lester Hummerston,
i got a copy of his birth cert. and his father is James John Joseph William Hummerston, Mother Beatrice Sarah Feasey.
I have had no problem with the Feasey side but can find no trace of JJJW anywhere
anyone have any suggestions as to where the best palce to look?
    thanks

    Marie:(

This appears to be his marriage

      Marriages Dec 1910
      Feasey Beatrice S
      Hummerston James W
      Paddington 1a 37

The certificate would give his fatherĀ“s name andoccupation which might help you to trace him in the census.

What was James' occupation on the birth certificate of Albert.

This seems to be the marriage:

        Feasey Beatrice S Paddington 1a 37
        Hummerston James W Paddington 1a 37
        Weller Charles W Paddington 1a 37

Is that what it says on the marriage cert? Do you mean widowed?

                Is this your grandfather's birth?

How can it say he was already married on a marriage cert? Is that what it says under Condition?

Ok, so you need the marriage cert to help with being certain you get the right person on the 1901 census etc as it should include James' age (accutate or otherwise!) and his father's details.

Where did you see his age recorded as 39? (I think that's why we thought you had the marriage cert)

I wonder why they didn't get married till after Albert was born? Maybe one of them had been married previously and their spouse died between 1903 and 1910?

Do you know why your cousin thinks James was born c1870 in Whitechapel?
