Robert and wife Margaret didn't actually marry until 1908! I think Bren muddled up the generations. The family living at Canterbury Road are Robert's parents, John and Mary.

If John was born in the late 1840's and came over here during the potato famine he must have arrived as a small child surely?
What's the earliest census he's been found on?
Is this his wife, Mary Curtis in 1851?
RG9; Piece: 975; Folio: 118; Page: 17
marriage:
Marriages Mar 1875
CURTIS Mary Marylebone 1a 917
Gagey Louis Réné Marylebone 1a 917
LECLERE Marie Eugenie Marylebone 1a 917
McCARTIE John Marylebone 1a 917
Bren, have you got this marriage cert? I was wondering what John's father's details were?

If you haven't got their marriage certificate where did you get the ages from and why do you think Mary was born in Cork?
On the census Mary gives her place of birth as Great Stukeley, Huntingdonshire (c1850) - not Ireland.Elaine
