Can anyone decipher the occupation, please?
1851 census for Wombourn, Staffs, HO107, piece 1002, book 17, district 1, folio 11
I am interested in Samuel Worton. He's 5th from the bottom on the right-hand side. Could it say Nailer? Was that even a job?
Many thanks,
Zoe

I haven't even looked at the page, but I lay a fiver it does say nailer! lol

Your clue about "right hand side" led me to the 1841 rather than 1851!!
Yes, it says nailer. I can see some of OH's relatives on the lefthand page! lol

Assuming that a nailer simply made nails, what an utterly thrilling job
Still, it makes a change from ag lab.

A nailer made nails by hand. Rather them than me!!

Oh dear, sorry - yes, obviously I meant 1841... Thanks for taking a look and confirming it's "nailer".
