Rebecca Hutfield 1861

Hello

Can somebody do me the favour of finding Rebecca Hutfield on the 1861 census please?

I dont have access to Ancestry and im trying to prove that Rebecca had kids with her from a previous marriage by the name of Witcher.

This is her on the 1851 census -

Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece: 1672; Folio: 146; Page: 11

Her name is spelt Rebekah by mistake.

She should be in Hampshire.

Any help would be welcomed

They are down as Hosfield (but corrected to Hutfield) in 1861.

George and Rebecca with sons George 17 and William 12.

Looks like Longstock Road, but definitely Longstock, Hampshire.

RG9 Piece 688 Folio 48 Page 12.

William who is 12 is defo a Hutfield but the George who is 17, is he down as a Witcher?

There's a William (looks like Whicher) further down the page with a possible Elizabeth Hutfield, both as servants.

The image is very pale.

I'll go back to 1851 and take another look.

1851 has (as you probably know)

George, Rebecca and sons, Henry and William. Also visitors, Elizabeth and George Witcher.


1861 has George and Rebecca with sons as I have above. Down the road sure looks like Elizabeth Hutfield and William Witcher as servants.

Maybe someone can check elsewhere with a better image..

Do you know the relationship between the Hutfields and Witchers??

Yep, George Hutfield married Rebecca Witcher in 1849.

Im not sure what the relationship is with the younger Witchers but i think that maybe there her kids from a first marriage as on the 1841 census Rebecca is with a William Witcher who is only a few years older than her but im not 100% on that.

So George had children previously.....marries Rebecca in 1849...I'm presuming that little one is their combined effort.

Maybe Rebecca's kids alternated between calling themselves Hutfield and Witcher after she married George Hutfield.

Danny...there's a Webb/Vince family tree on Ancestry that has both Witcher and Hutfield, but it's a private tree so I can't see what they have.

If George Hutfield hadn't been married before where did Henry come from??

George may have married before but im not sure. I havent been able to check as yet. Its more than likely he was.

Im awake because ive got a 2week old daughter that wont go to sleep lol

OH.......been there. the youngest is 27 and I still remember the first time he slept through.

1871 I think I've found Henry Hutfield. Married to Mary A and children Matilda (13) and William (7). Living in Millbrook, Hampshire. Henry is a coachman.
Probaby doesn't help much though.
