I have the wedding certificate of 1865.The groom was a sergeant in the above regiment, and at the time of the marriage was living in the Citadel Barracks.Dover.
According to the 1881 census(he was not at home),the first child was born abt.1865 Aldershot, the second in Pembroke(1867)and all the others in Colchester(youngest 2 years old).
Is there any way I can find out more about his military career? I do not have his birth(abt.1829)His father was also a soldier.

    Fran,
This month's FTF online magazine contained an interesting article about Tracing Miliary Ancestors - might be worth looking to see if it answers your question.

You'd need his army records which would be at Kew. What was his name.

No worries! The records might still be at Kew, just not indexed. There's also the possibility that his father's records are there too.

So how would I get hold of them? Does it mean a visit?

They wouldn't be indexed for that period. Yes, you would have to go to Kew to search for them.
