Sorry to be such a pain but has anyone got any idea which part of Yorkshire Laughton en le Morthen comes under please? I am trying to search for her birth with mistranscriptions but it would help if I could put the county in and Yorkshire is split into East Riding West riding etc.

Laughton en le Morthen is in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Its only a few miles from Worksop, Nottinghamshire (Millicent's given birthplace in 1881) and a few miles from Whitwell, Derbyshire where Eliza was christened so you can understand how people got the counties mixed up. I looked on the Hugh Wallis site and Baptisms at Laughton are only covered 1813-1836.

Laughton en le Morthen probably comes under Rotherham or Sheffield. It was one of the villages I used to cycle around as a youngster. As Moggie says it's very close to the Notts. and Derbyshire borders.
