Guess where Rosalie and John were living in 1871? Wyke Regis.

Why oh why is it a pupil free day at school today.

So that I can have the grandson instead of playing lookups...lol.

Of course, Mary, Rosalie is Agatha's daughter.

I'm getting more convinced that Edward Clark may have been telling the truth when he put widower on his 1851 census.

Some of the other people in this will are the children of Mary and Agatha's older sister, Elizabeth Farr. In the divorce proceedings, Agatha went to Elizabeth's at that time, so I can presume Elizabeth knew what happened to her.

      Time for another trawl.

I'm a bit puzzled as to who Gertrude Devenish is. Do you have any thoughts, Libby?

So far as I can see from the censuses, Rosalie and John Devenish had three children: John Herbert Clark, Rosalie Gertrude and Beatrice Mary.

John didn't marry till 1909, and there's no Gertrude Devenish born after that. Rosalie doesn't seem to have married at all, and Beatrice married an Edward Castleman Smith.

I suppose Gertrude might be Rosalie Gertrude, who was Mary's great-niece; there's also Emma Gertrude Clark (Edward's daughter by his second marriage), but she'd be a step-niece.
