I thought it was in the Wiki, but it doesn't seem to be, so I'll add it.

There's another very good Boer War index in the Wiki that I hadn't seen before:

Welcome to Casus Belli (military books and medals)

        Dear Cherry,

The Allen James Hallett and Florence Trowell nee Pattison were my paternal grandparents. I have no idea why they were living in London at the time of their marriage but will ask my cousin Joan if she has any information.
As you may be aware Allen died at the first Battle of Arras in1917.
My father Henry Spencer Hallett lost contact with his fathers family and I am both surprised and delighted to make contact with you.

With my very best wishes Ruth

Oh that's absolutely unbelievable Ruth, I'm so delighted to make contact with you

I just love the Halletts, they're all so interesting. I was in touch with Bill Pattison and then my computer blew up and needless to say I hadn't backed everything up!!

          My very best,
          Cherry
