Why is it that sometimes in start up my mouse/cursor freezes in the middle of the screen and the only way to unfreeze it is to shut down using the power button or unplug the mouse from the usb port and plug back in. Its an optical mouse NOT wireless. As my pc is in a small corner its quite a pain having to pull the "tower" out from its little cubby hole to do that.
I don't know, Lesley, but have you tried replacing the mouse?

The only similar problem we've had on here recently that I can think of was indeed that the cursor kept freezing, but it wasn't on start-up and I don't think they had to resort to turning the power off to sort it out.
