Can you decipher this please?

I would be grateful if someone could have a look at this census record and see if you can decipher the occupation of both William Beaumont and William Beaumont Jnr on the 1881 census. Reference RG 11/473 Page 42.

It is the last record on the bottom of the page.

I would be interested to hear what you think it reads?

Regards
Gill

Looks like Pillowslip Porter for WB senior and Fish retailer for his son.

Fellowship porter - which is what Ancestry has transcribed it as! Correctly, for once!

Yes, agreed OC, I was just about to correct myself regarding the h and then looked again at the F after I saw your post. Funny F, but like the one in Fish but not so well written.

Goodness that was quick! Thank you very m uch, I found the transcription on ancestry just after my posting!

Would you say a fish retailer is exactly what it says someone who sells fish, i.e. nothing grander!

Regards

Yes, Gill, I would think so - someone who sells to the public rather than a wholesaler.
