  • Help finding my grandfather

    Hi,
I live in Yorkshire, as has my father for the whole of his 78 years. My father told me that his father came from Cromer in Norfolk.

Can anyone advise me of the best way to find as much information re places to visit etc to trace his family before I go to Cromer in April.

    Welcome to Family Tree Forum.

The first thing you need to do is work back with certificates.
Do you have your father's birth certificate as this will show the names of his parents. You would then look for their marriage certificate which should in turn help you find your grandfather's birth certificate.

First things first - your father's birth certificate. Do you have it?

Have you looked at any of the censuses? Do you know the date of birth? Ancestry.co.uk has lots of records online but it is mainly by subsciption.
If you wanted to post up some details here no doubt we could all help find what you're looking for.

          Hello Superowl

If you tell us your grandfather's name & birth date (if your father knows it) it will give us a starting point. (We do not put the names of living people on here because of identity fraud etc) I am assuming that grandpa is no longer with us.
