  • Henry Wicks

I've been getting in a dreadful muddle trying to find out about Henry Wicks, father of HW Wicks.

He appears in 1901, aged 32 with wife Annie E, and children Henry W, Beatrice M and Florence A - RG 13, pce 1031, folio 25, page 9. He is "manager for an Insurance Society".

I found him in 1911, with the same family and another child, Kate.

The 1911 record has his pob as Haggerston, from which I think I have found him in 1891, living with his brother Thomas in Hackney - RG12, pce 199, folio 43, pg 4. - he is then a " printer's compositor"

But I cannot find Henry in 1871 or 1881 - any ideas please?

Also, do you think the birth in St Pancras 2nd quarter 1869 might be his ?

    Many thanks

I would have prefered a birth in Hackney district :(

No its probably the Shoreditch one in 1868, Haggerston is in Shoreditch.

I know because I live in Shoreditch.

Edit to say: And now the old parish Shoreditch is in the Borough of Hackney. Its actually in Hackney South and Shoreditch and Haggerston is a ward of that part.

Having said that, this ought to be his brother (right initials)

          Births Mar 1871
          Wicks Thomas William F Shoreditch 1c 192

Might that help with the 1871?

          EDIT - Oops, thanks Maggie!
