  • LDS Pilot Search made me cry!!

I noticed that the LDS was asking for transcribers for quite a few English and Welsh PRs and thought I'd have a look at their Pilot Search site to see if anything new had been added.

I put in just my (relatively uncommon) maiden name and was quickly skimming through the results, picking out the 19th century Wiltshire mentions from amongst all the American ones when, all of a sudden, to my surprise, up popped my father's 1920 Deptford, Kent Christening. It appears that he and his sisters were all christened on the same day when the eldest was 10 and the youngest 7. His parents were married in a Register Office - it's maddening that I'll never know what prompted the sudden mass Christening.

My parents met when my father was my mother's CO in WW2 and they have been on my mind today because I started the day by becoming totally engrossed in this month's "Remembering our Military Ancestors" issue of the FTF magazine. Presumably that's why the discovery triggered the old waterworks!!

There certainly seems to be much more available on the pilot site than the last time I looked and I shall definitely be checking it more frequently from now on.

I thought I had the address for that site in my faves, but can't find it.
