If you want to know more or have any questions the developer is hosting a Google+ hangout at the community at Noon this Saturday.
I have started trialing this program but he is keen to get feedback from others in the UK who are interested in using this program.

Using ftm 2011. Just found out that the program counts people with nicknames as separate people resulting in two people. All the people with nicknames are listed at the top of the people index with nickname in parentheses. They appear again alphabetically without the nickname. When I need to make a change to the info on these people I have to do it twice!!! My old ftm program did not do this. Another reason I absolutely HATE this version. Is there a fix for this issue? Thanks

This will seem a heinous crime to most dedicated genealogists :crying:.

But, I have been given a tree of some 8400 names and I want to whittle this down to a much more manageable size, I am not really interested in Sara Anne unknown “Wife of 2nd cousin 3x removed of husband of 4th cousin 1x removed of Perkymite” I need to split the tree into more direct ancestors and not include the distant, distant relatives(?). In fact it is one of the reasons I bought 2012.

I have gone through the little companion booklet that comes with it and I have tried searching for Splitting a Family tree but have had no luck. Could one of you kind people point me in the right direction.

Many thanks for any help given

Hi all, I havent been in here for a while, but I just purchased FTM 2012 because of the syncing feature. Now My ancestry tree has less peeps in it than my online tree, and I was wondering if there was a way to merge both together, without actually creating a whole new tree. I assumed that by uploading my FTM tree to ancestry it would just add the extra peeps to it....but it created a whole new tree. So can I merge ( within FTM ) both trees together...then upload to ancestry??? Hope this makes sense>>>LOL

Hi all, I have decided to purchase and upgrade my FMT from 2008 ver: 17.0.0.965 to 2012.

Two things:

1. In 2008 when I hit the Help/Check for updates I get a message telling me that I do not have administrator rights. It goes on that I should Log into my computer as administrator (which I already do as standard) or Run the application using administrator rights . I have never worried about this before but I am now thinking that it might interfere with the upgrading from 08 to 12! Any advice on this would be welcome.

And

2. Are there any know problems with upgrading from 2008 ver: 17.0.0.965 to 2012?

Thanks for any help given.

One of my siblings has (amazingly!) expressed an interest in seeing the fruits of my family tree labours.

If I send them a gedcom and they download the free version of Legacy, does anyone know if there are any sections of my Legacy tree they will be unable to view?

Secondly - up to now I haven't attached photos to my Legacy tree. If I do, and send them a copy of the photo file of census etc, will they be able to view the attached photos via the free version?
