St Mary's Cemetry Osney Oxford

Rate this Entry
I have a photo of the headstone and memorial card of my great grandmother Elizabeth Propert. She died in 1924. The card says she was buried in St Mary's Cemetry Osney. But my trying to find it via google says the cemetry was closed to burials in 1855. This doesn't add up!!!!
Any help re this cemetry and my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Just had a google - and came up with the following:
    1848
Three new parish cemeteries were consecrated:

    • Osney Cemetery
    • Holywell Cemetery
    • St Sepulchre’s Cemetery in Jericho

    1855
Orders in council instructed that burials should cease in

    • all the ancient parish churchyards (except in existing vaults or walled graves)
    • the graveyards of the Roman Catholic, Baptist, Wesleyan, and Congregational chapels
    • the workhouse
    • the Radcliffe Infirmary
    • the castle gaol.

In addition, burials in the three new parish cemeteries of 1848 and in Summertown churchyard were to be made only in plots already reserved.
    - so maybe she was buried in an existing vault or reserved plot.
