  1. Helen Coull born 1796 Elgin - possible link to Dr Thomas Coull

This research has been to find a link between Dr Thos Coull and ? cousin, Helen Coull. Special thanks go to FTF member, Moggie, for her interest and help.

The quest began after a link was suggested in The History of Antigua Vol 1 by Oliver:

Extract: 'A Dr Coull (he seems to have been a well-known Medical Man, as I see the name quoted in an old medical work). His daughter was a famous ...

This is the great grandfather of Thomas Coull born c 1800 - see his blog page. See separate blog page for Patrick's Will/Inventory.

As always, thanks go to experienced members of FTF, especially Moggie, for their perseverance and interest in finding out as much as we have done about the Scottish roots of the Antiguan Coulls.

  4. Thomas Coull born c 1800 married to Caroline Emily Roberts - elusive origins

My link to the Coull family is via the marriage of Eleanor Butcher, born 1838 St Pancras, to William Coull in 1859. This changed the direction of her life from that of a milliner in Islington to emigration to New Zealand with her ailing husband and his 2 brothers in 1871.

The 3 brothers, already established in the printing and publishing trade, went on to thrive in Dunedin, New Zealand. I am in touch with a direct descendant of William’s brother, Thomas. He has confirmed this tree, ...

  5. Lucretia Lewis nee Butcher born 21/3/1845 St Pancras and her family

After her father's death, Lucretia Butcher's journey took her out of the poverty her family were left in to stay with her better off aunts in Eastbourne and then Islington. Her widowed mother worked as a laundress and her sister, Elizabeth, from which my line is descended, did not fare so well.

As ever, FTF members have helped extensively with my research. I am in touch with a direct descendant of Lucretia's son, William Lewis. She lives in Australia and confirms some of the later ...
