  • What info can you get from Poor Law School indexes?

Having never seen anything from these indexes, I'm wondering what info do they hold?

I have my ggrandmother (Annie Keating) in Swinton Law School in 1901, she was born in Oldham in 1886, her mother (Catherine Keating nee O'Keffe) died in 1887, I've never been able to find her or her father (Thomas Keating) on the 1891 census.
So the only evidence I have prior to her marriage in 1908 is the 1901 census.
Will the school records have the reasons why she was placed there, who placed her and details of her time there etc.
I've found that Lanc's RO has the records

"Lancashire Record Office holds institution admission and discharge books, 1846-1848, 1850-1934; school admission and discharge books, 1892-1926; indices, 1848-1935; and a Master's journal, 1922-1929."

but I don't want to do a 200 mile round trip if it is not going to be worthwhile.
    Any responses appreciated

Perhaps it would be worth a try to e-mail the record office, asking them what information the records give?
