  • Phillimore Holloway

I have just been given the following information from the Birmingham electoral rolls whilst researching my Walker relations.

    1925 William Walker & Phillimore & Emma Holloway 346 Adam’s hill
    1930 Phillimore & Emma Amelia Holloway 346 Adam’s hill
    1935 Phillimore & Emma Amelia Holloway 346 Adam’s hill

I can't find any information on the Holloway family, can anyone else ?

This is them on the 1901

      RG13, piece 2751, folio 58, page 4

Mistranscribed as Halloway. They are living next door to the Walker family. Philemon is 20 and a labourer: tube works, born Halesowen

Philemon is a pretty name, she features in a myth: http://ancienthistory.about.com/cs/m...emonbaucis.htm

As for the mistake in the electoral roll, my grandfather Jeuel Gray is on the Hackney rolls as Jule!

I had always understood that Philemon was a male (Biblical - New Testament) name. One of Paul's epistles was addressed to him - as a slave-owner.
