I am trying to trace HERBERT BELLERBY born 1880 in Hull and who was living in hull in the 1901 census and working as a Rulleyman. He does not appear in the 1911 Census and there is no death record in the years between 1901 and 1911.

Any help?

are you sure he's not in a county that's not online yet?

I'm descended from the York area Bellerbys, in the 18thC - not sure if there are any Hull links at a later date?

In the early 19thC there was a publisher on Stonegate called Henry Bellerby who published 'York Gazette' as well as the official documents re. York Castle- and was a friend of Branwell Bronte amongst others. Henry was involved in the setting up of the workhouse in the 1830s, seems to have been very liberal in his sympathies - but I understand he emigrated to Australia. Not sure if there's a connection between the York and Hull ones? The family seem to have been yeoman farmers then gone into various commercial ventures in the early 19thC, so it's possible. Might be worth you pursuing your Bellerby back via the IGI, to get a rogh sketch of where he came from as if he's a Strensall (York) family originally, he will be pretty well documented.

ETA: If you're just interested in tracing forwards not backwards, he coukld have died after the 1920s/30s when maybe there aren't so many records transcribed, yet?
