I found the headstone of my 3rd g grandfather this afternoon which I'm really chuffed about. I'm having a problem reading the bit under his name and date. I can see "For what is your life! It is .................

Hope somebody has got better eyes than me :)

I think the first three lines are this verse from the Bible:

James 4:14
For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

These are the next 3 verses - I don't think that's what follows on the tombstone, but I'm having trouble reading it.

James 4:15
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
James 4:16
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

That sounds good to me Mary. I'm looking at the following lines. Do you think it might say

"Watch therefore for ye know neither the day nor the ? in which the Son of Man ?"

Yes, well done, that sounds like a Biblical quote I've heard of. Hang on a minute...
