i seem to have got only shades of black>>>>grey despite normal colour palette showing.

what have i done and how can i rectify it?
red displays as a light grey than say Drk blue, for instance

Sounds like a daft answer but have you selected something like "show in greyscale" selected?

Click on Image - Attributes and see if Colors is set to Black and White instead of Colors.

Soor kate - have susssed it - well i think i have

think I clicked on 'translucent' somehow - well, It was ticked to I unticked it and its solved the problem
