Can someone tell me in the simplest of terms how to do this please?:)
2) I use the SPAM facility but, some cases it just does not work:(. Why????
Thanks

Hi Kat,
I don't know if the following is of any help:
The best way to stop spam being downloaded to your computer is probably to use the spam settings at your email providers server end, if they have a spam facility. You will have to do this by logging on to your email account direct (not via an email client like Thunderbird or Outlook, etc). If for example you use Gmail they have quite a good facility for stopping spam.
You may be able to block email addresses using your antivirus software.
On Thunderbird:
Select "Tools"
Select "Account Settings"
Select "Junk Settings" under your email address.
Then select the Junk Setting options you want.
You have to train Thunderbird to recognize what you want/don't want to be junk mail.
If an email arrives in your Inbox that you want to specify as junk then highlight the mail and click the <Junk> button to mark it as junk.
Thank you, John, will try that.
Bocking senders in spam doesn't work, they are false addresses.
There is an extension called Thunderbayes which adds an even better spam filter but try training TBs first.
"Allow adaptive junk mail filters for this account"
You can easily set custom filters.
1. "if subject contains" - "Viagra" -delete from Pop server. you will never see them.
2. If "to" "does not contain" "your email address" -delete from popserver
(Many spam mails do not have your address in the "to" box)
You can also set TB to download headers only and set another filter
If "from" is in "my address book" fetch from POP server.
If you want click on "message" in the toolbar and "create filter from message" and you will get a filter box. Just set it to "delete from popserver"
.
Bob
Thanks Bob will have a go at that tonight.
