1. ZoneAlarm has told me on many occasions today that PostUpdate.exe is trying to access the internet. As I wasn't familiar with the name, I've just done a search on my hard drive and found the following:

POSTUPDATE.EXE -3368 C:/WINDOWS/prefetch 9KB PF file

PostUpdate.exe C:/WINDOWS/system32/M 52KB Application

PostUpdate.exe.old C:/WINDOWS/system32/M 52KB OLD file

Googling PostUpdate.exe brings up lots of mentions of malware/spyware.

Can someone tell me whether I should be doing something about this application please?

2. Whilst looking at the ZoneAlarm message, I also spotted a new icon in my system tray for Shockwave updater. This doesn't respond to a right or a left click and I don't have any shockwave on my list of programmes.

Any suggestions as to why it should suddenly have appeared there and how I can get rid of it please?

I wouldn't worry too much about Shockwave, Gillian, as it is a program used to play games etc on the internet - similar to Flash. But the first one sounds worrying. We need an expert to tell you what to do about it, though...

Thanks Kate.

I'm a bit twitchy as I have been on GR several times over the last few days after a new contact, and I'm hoping I haven't picked anything up!
